If you’re having trouble connecting your custom S3-compatible storage to Hostjar.io, it’s likely due to incorrect configuration or missing permissions. Here’s how to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Common reasons for connection issues
- Incorrect endpoint, access key, or secret key:
- Double-check the Endpoint, Access Key ID, and Secret Access Key provided by your storage provider.
- Ensure there are no typos or extra spaces.
- Incorrect region:
- Verify the region with your storage provider. If you’re using Amazon S3, refer to their documentation: Amazon S3 Regions.
- Missing write permissions:
- Hostjar.io requires write permissions to your S3 bucket to upload a test file during the connection process.
- Ensure your bucket policy or IAM settings allow write access.
- Network or firewall issues:
- Check if your network or firewall is blocking access to the S3 endpoint.
Steps to resolve the issue
- Verify your credentials:
- Confirm that the Endpoint, Access Key ID, Secret Access Key, and Region are correct.
- Check bucket permissions:
- Ensure your S3 bucket allows write access for Hostjar.io.
- Test the connection:
- Re-enter the details in the Storage Page section of your Hostjar.io dashboard and test the connection again.
